In which Lyv is a needy, needy thing...

...errr. Anyone enjoying the holiday weekend enough to want to do some beta work for me? You need a break from eggnog and Christmas shopping, riiight? *puppy dog eyes*

These are the things wot I might need a teensy bit of help with:

1. a Kirk/Spock
2. a Remus/Sirius
3. a Sheldon/Leonard

Umm, so these are all for fests, except #3, so I can't give tons of details, but they're like, not at all scary, really. Nothing terribly squicky or sad or scary or anything. I can e-mail you details if you wants them.

Also, there is something that I am midway through writing (well. Not midway. but started, at least) and could use some cheerleading help on. If anyone is extra specially helpful, and wants to have capslocky chat conversations with me. Because capslock is love, and you know, I just need someone to help me focus on ficcage instead of pumpkin cheesecake.

Pleeeeeease? I will <3 you forever!

back on line - sort of

have been computerless for several days - took pc to a nice chap who basically did a few checks and told me he could find nothing wrong with it - it started for him and behaved like a good little computer. Naturally, when I get it back, it freezes on the first attempt, but with a few kicks and a lot of swearing, it does at least start.

After being told by one boffin that the motherboard on my laptop was dead, I asked same chap to recover the data from it - which he did, only guess what? Laptop worked fine for him too. Unfortunately, the mains cable is rather dodgy and needs replacing - but that shouldn't be too much of a problem. So I'm 85 Euros down and not that much better off as yet.

Apologies to anyone whose birthday I may have missed, and to those who are poorly, best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Snerfle

I was just doing tech support over the phone to my parents, trying to splain about gmails spam filters being different to windows mail filters...

And Dad said: you're wonderful. You're stroppy and sneering but wonderful.

Hee, I am Snape.

It's a weekend of tidying and throwing things away, and I'm going to buy myself a book reader just because.

    Recipe Project: Easy Brownies

Title: The Way of the World

    Author: McKay ([info]scribbulus_ink)

Commentary: McKay's "Way of the World" contains some wonderful domestic scenes between Snape and Lupin in the kitchen, where, for example, Lupin teaches Snape how to cook (and survive) in the muggle world.

McKay already posted a great recipe from the story, so I hope no one minds that I'm posting one for brownies inspired by this delightful scene:

    Excerpt:

"Laugh at me, will you?" Severus snarled. "You'll pay for that!"

And suddenly, Severus reached into the bowl, scooped up a huge handful of batter, and advanced on Remus.

"No -- Severus, you wouldn't!" Remus stared at him, wide-eyed, as he began backing away.

"Oh, wouldn't I." Severus' voice was a silky purr now, but his smile was pure evil.
Remus couldn't help but think that batter-covered Severus would have been even better. )

It's Friday morning here in Australia, and I'm reccing this essay:

    http://randomneses.livejournal.com/479704.html

It's about the Snape/Lily pairing, and why there's so much Lily-bashing (apparently) that goes on in the Snapefen camp. I don't entirely agree with it, but it's thought-provoking,to say the least.

I look forward to hearing what other members think!

Fic rec: The Guardian (Torchwood, PG, Jack/Ianto)

Helluva day to post a rec, at least for folks this side of the pond, but here it is nonetheless.

    Title: The Guardian
    Author: [info]madambackslash
    Fandom: Torchwood
    Rating: PG
Characters: Jack Harkness, John Hart, Gray, Ianto Jones, Rhiannon Davies, Mica Davies, OCs
    Spoilers: Through CoE
Summary: The Jones family has lived in Cardiff for a very long time...
Why you should read it: This tale starts in 27 CE with a very young witness to a horrific event, a witness who proceeds to give that event a meaning that grows through time and then persists well beyond. To say more would spoil it, but it's beautiful and sad and touching and I expect it's a story I'll revisit more than once. Have Kleenex handy when you read.
